East Lancashire Railway (ELR) 19-9-2015 Class 40 diesel departing Irwell Vale Halt, Rossendale, southbound for Ramsbottom and Bury. Recorded on the station platform using a Tascam DR-60D with a single Audio Technica AT8022 stereo XY microphone and Rycote wind jammer.

Don't worry, easy mistake to make! My father worked on the design for these when he worked at English Electric - the internal engine pipework to be precise.

Thank you for your comment, my knowledge of diesel engines is limited, having just checked the ELR inventory and looked at some pictures I think you're right. I have since submitted a revised description so it should be corrected in due course. My apologies for the school boy error and thanks for listening & correcting me.

Are you sure that this is a Deltic? It sounds more like a Class 40 (English Electric Type 4) to me.
