Thanks to a suggestion by AlienXXX I importing the same file into audacity as raw data, but as a 32 bit not the default 8! A very different analysis. Actually a much less menacing and cleaner sounding machine having a little moment of deja vu!

Oh thank you, but you give me too much credit. The good people on freesound inspired and taught me how to do this, and there are many more sounds created by people who know what they're doing a lot better. It was fun though :)

These are GREAT sounds. They work very well for a verity of situations. I appreciate your sense of exploration and genius gathering together the mostly unheard!
