this recording is of a fireplace at a friend's house in eagles mere, pennsylvania.
the fire produces several distinct layers of sound simultaneously:
crackling, high-pitched hissing, and a sort of sizzling. there is also
very subtle wind coming in through the chimney starting in the middle
of the recording. stereo recording: sony ecm-ds70p -> minidisc.
