Sorry to answer so late, I was engaged on other things that couldn't look into blog & other media/forums.
I'm so pleased with the performance of DR-40 but it's highly recommended to buy a good windscreen if you'll use it outside. June 28th 2012 will be the date of my blog to be published so you'll hear more sounds RAW with the DR-40... nice recorder!!!

I like this sound a lot. I also liked your poetic description of it. I stumbled upon this sound because I'm considering purchasing a Tascam DR-40. I think this sound sounds great. Are you pleased with the performance of the DR-40?
