One shoot, hard stroke in Mapex 14x7 black finished snare. Recorded in middle-side microphone set-up. With central microphone 15cm far from snare top and side microphone 1 meter far. Recorded in tight kitchen. Top side of snare with very high tuning, bottom side almost loose. Snare strap on. Recorded with Tascam DR-60DMKII linear PCM recorder with two AKG P-120 microphones on Stag SMC cord. Recorded in 96kHz and 24-bit downsampled in FLStudio with filtering to 44.1kHz and 16-bit. Spectrally smothed high range (ringing reduction with Parametric Equalizer) and profiled emphasizing 3kHz by +6dB. At recording, sensitivity knobs set to 9 o'clock of Tascam range. No distortion. Side of recording reduced by 6dB. Normalized. Hit with Regal Tip 5A mallet. Tiger desktop stand. Snare recording used as main snare in my track "Laffik - Hyperdimensional Drain" available i.e. on iTunes and Amazon.

Bro, it's not a fault of a DAW. Try samplepacks like Joe Sturgis - Truth (Black and Gold) - there are nice acoustic snares. Or, invest in variant deluxe: buy a snare on Amazon - new for less than £100 and Zoom H1 or other recorder and condenser mics and record it by yourself. Nice you like timbre of my snare. Key point here is smoothing up the curve of a spectrum above 1.5kHz and boosting 250Hz and 3kHz - making it shape like a sine wave - boombox always sounds well :). Kind regards. If I have a time, I will upload more snares but it is so tedious to fill up this upload application...
