A recording of walking in the Shawnee National Forest in Illinois in October of 2025. Many dry leaves are on the forest floor and deliver a wonderful crunch when stepped on. Also, pay particular attention to the several moments of silence when the quiet of the forest is almost overwhelming. This is a much difference soundscape that you would hear in Summer! No birds. Hardly any insects. Just me in my walking tennis shoes helping nature break up the leaves to feed future living organisms.
Equipment Used: SONY PCM D100 with internal cardioid microphones.
