Polder Farmland Netherlands early spring.
The farmers are already at work. Two people on a bicycle and a boy on a two-stroke moped pass by. In the city, boys ride scooters, but here in the countryside, they still ride mopeds. It's part of the image.
Here in the Gelderse Waarden, a vast polder near Hedikhuizen, peace prevails. The chiffchaff and the green woodpecker, the stock dove and the crow, and many other birds make themselves heard. The airplanes and the man on the bicycle are free extras in this recording. He’s calling and waving at me. Occasionally, some traffic passes through the polder. A farmer drives his tractor. Other than that, not much happens. It’s wonderfully quiet here.

About the location
To my left and in front of me lies the Hoge Maasdijk (a river-dike), which protects the 'Gelderse Waarden' (left, the polder) from high water levels of the River Maas.
The Gelderse Waarden is a peculiar name, as this polder does not belong to the province of Gelderland but to Noord-Brabant. Here’s the backstory:
Once, the Hedikhuizense Maas flowed through this area—a sharp meander of the River Maas that was cut through in 1474-1475 to facilitate shipping. This meander is located between the villages of Hedikhuizen and Haarsteeg. The area north of this meander, which is now south of the river Maas, remained part of Gelderland as the Gelderse Waarden until 1958. From that point onward, this polder became part of the province of Noord-Brabant.
