The waterfront of river Amer in the Netherlands in spring.
Quietly, a cargo ships sails up and down the river. The sheep behind me on the embankment bleat and eat the grass short. Many birds can be heard as you can see in the list below. Life here is pleasantly slow.

General information about the area;
View on busy Amer river with left in the distance waters named ‘Zuidergat van den Visschen’ and ‘Noordergat van den Visschen’. Boerenplaat is an island you see at the other side of the Amer river. Behind the river Amer you see the Nieuwe Merwede river. Other side river(s) 3 km away. Shipping on >150 m. The wind blows gently through last year's dry reeds. The waves of the ships are usually broken by the breakwater and the stone breakwaters that run 30 meters from the side in the longitudinal direction of the river. So the wave noise is coming from that distance. If the waves are too high, they land against the stone dike that protects us from flooding.
