Cetti's Warbler singing on a beautiful March spring day. Recorded in Vlijmens Ven in the Netherlands.
The cetti's warbler is hardly ever seen but heard. Its song is, as you can hear, very loud. In recent years the number is increasing in the Netherlands because the winters are no longer so harsh.
It is a small brown songbird with a rounded, often swooping tail. Deep reddish brown above, more gray below. Distinctive head pattern with dark eye stripe and light brow stripe and two white crescents below and above the eye. Can also be confused with lesser warbler or moustache, but has a more compact body and more reddish warm brown rather than yellow-brown.
