The Zandmeren is an area around a trio of interconnected sand ponds on the Meuse River near Kerkdriel in the province of Gelderland in The Netherlands. The lakes were created by sand and gravel extraction. The lakes are about 40 meters deep. They are accessible by boat from the Meuse River.

Today I have learned what Great Crested Grebe sounds like. I have heard this in nearby marshlands but always too far to match sound to bird. MerlinID is not 100% accurate but I matched your clear sound to the very poor quality xeno-canto on https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/great-crested-grebe and it seems correct. Thank you!
