Skylark in ambient recording.
The Skylark has a beautiful melody song. This song is made by the male for the female.

He starts from the ground and then goes higher and higher, sometimes up to 100 meters, into the air while singing. For minutes he stays there singing high in the air for his beloved before descending again and landing next to her. Isn't that sweet? Do you do the same for your beloved?

Unfortunately, the skylark is doing very poorly in our country. Since 1960 the numbers decreased by 95%. This makes this species one of the biggest victims of intensive agriculture and the overgrowth of the dunes.

We really need to do something about the nitrogen deposition otherwise the beautiful sound recordings here will soon be over. But yes, politics is not quick and inscrutable.

Gement polder achte Vlijmen
This area is given back to nature last year. Also it is an inundation area for the rivers around the city of 's-Hertogenbosch. Behind me a local polder road, a shortcut between village Vught and Vlijmen.
I wonder if the birds will come back. The way to find out is to record here for many years during all seasons and compare.
