Lake De Zandmeren - The Netherlands 0150 PM 241026_0932

Quiet, almost summer afternoon in October by the water.

In the distance he hears a mix of shipping on the Meuse and Waal rivers, farm machinery bringing in the harvest, many Coots and the distant traffic. #6:13 A couple with a dog walks by. The dog is curious about the strange thing on the waterfront. According to the woman, it is not cotton candy.
#8:12 On the waters of the lake are mini boats with richly equipped hobby fishermen. Even underwater radar they have on board. No fish stand any chance you might say. There are coots swimming around, constantly diving for aquatic plants that eat them. 

The Zandmeren is an area around a trio of interconnected sand ponds on the Meuse River near Kerkdriel in the province of Gelderland in The Netherlands. The lakes were created by sand and gravel extraction. The lakes are about 40 meters deep. They are accessible by boat from the Meuse River.
