This bird sanctuary De Rijskampen is part of a vast “Gement” polder between village Vlijmen, city 's-Hertogenbosch and Vught in the province of Noord-Brabant in the Netherlands. It has been transformed into an inundation area for the Maas, Aa, Dommel and Dieze rivers that surround the city. This adjustment was made after the flooding of the A2 motorway in 1995. It should not have gone further or there would have been three meters of water in my home. The entire Bommelerwaard, to the north of this area, with 250,000 people, between the river Maas and Waal, was evacuated. Yes, yes, the Netherlands waterland, but not too much please.
