When the wind is approaching zero and comes over the water, the low sound carries enormously far. This hum of traffic, trains, cargo shipping (close) and heavy industry comes from +4.5 km. I'm making this sound recording in the floodplain of the river. In addition to reeds, there are also many pollard willows. Yes you can hear the birds, but it's not what I had hoped for. And yet this recording is worth it. It shows how disruptive we as humanity can be. Did you know, for example, that birds in the city sing louder than in the country to rise above the noise when they call for a partner.
