Ambiance at Maas riverside in Okctober 2022. Recorded150 m from the water.

There are trees along the river and behind me on the dike where the wind blows gently. Geese fly over towards north and south. A Buzzard flies high in the sky and lets out its lamentation call. An occasional insect.
Many dogs are let out here. It seems that every Dutch family has bought such a shitting monster during the corona pandemic. My 15 meter walk to place the microphone resulted in another steaming brown boy between the profile of my shoes. Damn it!

Furthermore, the weather is amazingly beautiful. It's like summer.
You hear very little traffic here. Sometimes some bicycles driving over the cattle grids. It gives that brief rattling metal sound every now and then.
The magpies, rooks and crows are richly represented. It is still waiting for the ravens from Germany to move here. None have been spotted near here in the last two months.
After sixteen minutes an older couple arrives on their bicycles. They walk down the dike to the swing gate that gives access to the floodplain. They stay there for a long time looking at the fence and the wooden posts. Everything is thoroughly inspected and discussed. I think they are volunteers who took on this control task. After all, in the Netherlands there is a working group for everything. We are a very organized country. Open, close, open close, look above and below.
A father and young son and of course also a four-legged friend, pass by the inspecting elders.
The woman says there is something wrong with a pole. A hole has been drilled in the post. It's not clear to me whether that's a bad thing, but they record everything in a digital instrument. And again the gate opens and closes. The inspectors walk back onto the dike, get on the typical Dutch bicycle and leave the location. On to the next fence, the posts and the holes.

Now it is time for navigation on the river. They come from the direction of Belgium and sail towards the coast or Rotterdam. Who will say.

The next ship sails by and the wind picks up a bit. No, there is no rain on the way, just a little more wind.

After forty minutes a boy looks at around desperately. He says to n older man, "Sir, the dog pooped, but something got stuck." The man advised him to pick a large clump of grass and use it to clean the butt. It's not going well. In the end, the dog succeeded. When the dog has the ball again, they go to the river. Clearly relieved, the boy says goodbye to the old man. "good day". Good day, he say. The swinging gate closes with a heavy thud. All's well that ends well.
