Curfew city, 22nd night 8-11pm. Curfew start 9pm. MORE IN THIS PACK. Nothing yesterday.

This is the twenty second day in the Netherlands that we not only have a corona lockdown, but now also with a curfew from 9 in the evening. The lockdown started in December.

General info;
To find out what the effect is on the environment, I have my microphones on my high balcony from eight o'clock. The recording will run through to 11 pm.
You may not only hear it getting quieter but also see it in the diagram.
This curfew will mean that everyone must stay inside between 9pm and 04:30am. The aim of the curfew is to slow the infection rate by preventing people from visiting each other and gathering in groups. While the curfew is in force people will not be allowed outside without a valid reason.

Today’s recording;
8:15 pm
Today an easterly wind again so that noise from the western highway is hardly audible. During the course of the audio recording, the wind will turn to the southeast and it blows into the mics a bit. Frozen snow and ice remains on the streets and that is audible when traffic passes by. All sound comes from the direction of the city. Curfew will begin in 45 minutes. The police helicopter is flying over. A little later he returns. That was a quickie.
09:40 AM
Women walking their dogs. Why do honey owners talk to those animals in sentences? I don't believe they understand more than a single command. And another empty city bus. It's getting boring and that's the intention. That woman somewhere in an apartment near us is still coughing. She does that every night.
In the distance a freight train that can only be heard as noise and then an ambulance rushes towards a patient or hospital.
10:40 PM
It is quiet on the street. The usual people who walk their dog before going to sleep. The city bus runs empty again through the district.

Meanwhile in our country;
It is quiet in the country. Normally the whole city would be partying now, it is the time of the carnival. Now you don't hear anything. Not even private parties. Today people walked across the street wearing red, white and yellow scarves, these are the colors of Oeteldonk as the city is called with carnival. The city used to be surrounded by swamps for centuries and frogs called Oetels lived there. A "donk" was a pile of sand in the swamp. The city was built on that 'donk'. Oeteldonk = Frog City. The Oetels are now deep in the mud of the swamp and will reappear when the Corona is gone. Hopefully next year, with carnival.
We have 17 million inhabitants and nearly 15,000 people have already died of Covid-19. That is almost 0.09% of the population.
In the United States is 0.147%, the UK and France +0.17%
We in The Netherlands are lucky so far.
