Curfew city, 18th night 8-11pm. Curfew start 9pm. MORE IN THIS PACK. Nothing yesterday. ![]()
This is the eighteenth day in the Netherlands that we not only have a corona lockdown, but now also with a curfew from 9 in the evening. The lockdown started in December.
General info;
To find out what the effect is on the environment, I have my microphones on my high balcony from eight o'clock. The recording will run through to 11 pm.
You may not only hear it getting quieter but also see it in the diagram.
This curfew will mean that everyone must stay inside between 9pm and 04:30am. The aim of the curfew is to slow the infection rate by preventing people from visiting each other and gathering in groups. While the curfew is in force people will not be allowed outside without a valid reason.
Today’s recording;
Today is another beautiful frosty day with snow and ice on the roads and hardly any wind in the east. People who have read all the posts in this series know that these are the most favorable conditions for a nice sound recording and registration of the next curfew.
8:00 PM
It starts, like the this week with quiet traffic. It is wonderful to hear the icy snow under the tires of the cars. Because the snow on the highway to the west behind the building is not completely gone, there is still some noise from that side. Neighbor help another with a run-down car. Someone is also trying to scratch the ice off the windshield.
9:00 PM
Now that the curfew has started, it is not immediately quiet on the street. Because there was no wind tonight, all ditches have frozen shut. Hopefully in a few days we will have corona ice fun.
10:27 pm
Now the sound is interesting again. There is almost no traffic.
Only a car tries to get away on the smooth surface, it takes a while but it succeeds.
On the left you can clearly hear the city n the wind is blowing from the east. Even the container port, located north-east behind the flat, can be heard if a container ends up wrong.
Meanwhile in our country;
The government has decided that the curfew on January 23 - an eternity ago I feel - will continue until March 2. That will be 5 weeks and it is not said that it will be over by then. An epidemiologist on the radio compared the severity and impact of this epidemic to the plague in the Middle Ages. If necessary, people no longer have to leave before 9:00 PM when the curfew starts. This sport is finished. We also no longer have disturbances in the country. Only those tough men want to let you know that they have a nice car. A friend is back on the slippery roads with his truck for a night shift. His wife will be happy tomorrow when he gets back safely.
