Curfew city, 16th night 8-11pm. Curfew start 9pm. MORE IN THIS PACK. Nothing yesterday.
Kruiskampsingel 2
This is the sixteenth day in the Netherlands that we not only have a corona lockdown, but now also with a curfew from 9 in the evening. The lockdown started in December.

General info;
To find out what the effect is on the environment, I have my microphones on my high balcony from eight o'clock. The recording will run through to 11 pm.
You may not only hear it getting quieter but also see it in the diagram.
This curfew will mean that everyone must stay inside between 9pm and 04:30am. The aim of the curfew is to slow the infection rate by preventing people from visiting each other and gathering in groups. While the curfew is in force people will not be allowed outside without a valid reason.

Today’s recording;
Today is a special day. it is cold and it has snowed all night and day. So the loud is very special. You will hear that everything sounds muffled.
Yesterday I did not record at the agreed time for this project. I did make recordings that evening and night that will be uploaded later. Search for: klankbeeld 210206
What is striking today is of course the traffic that moves slowly. Cyclists hardly venture outside. Pedestrians often walk on the grass on the streets.
An hour after the start of this recording, the hated curfew starts again. Then it will be even quieter than at the beginning. And it is already so quiet with this urban snow ambience.
8:00 PM
People walk their dogs and chat about the weather and the chance of skating on the Great Lakes. The dogs have their own loud conversation. A mother is outside with her children to play in the snow. A delivery person brings some stuff, but in fact the local roads are too bad. Several cars were stuck here in the neighborhood because of drifting snow.
Due to the strong wind there is no ice on the ditches. If the wind dies the day after tomorrow, it will soon be different.
After fifteen minutes the wind starts to get stronger and again someone gets stuck in the snow. He also gives way too much gas as you can hear, but he gets away. Everything loose flaps in the wind. The windshield of the car under my balcony is still attached to one side. Sometimes it flies like an old flag in the wind.
8:45 PM
The sound of the environment is indeed as nicely muffled by the snow as I expected.
It's nice to see the boys driving around with their toys. It's just waiting for their youthful hubris to land the hard-earned vehicle against the curb.
10:00 PM
The wind is blowing hard. The wind whistles. A police car is surveying the neighborhood. But it's so cold that you really don't break curfew for fun. The wind chill is -12c / 30F, caused by the wind. Enjoy the recording.

Meanwhile in our country;
The government is finally beginning to realize that curfew and lockdown are also starting to take its toll on the young people. At first we elderly were pathetic. We had to be saved in the hospitals at any cost. Many people with other serious illnesses had to wait. Imagine that you'll be just a 30-year-old mother with kids waiting for cancer breast surgery. I'm just saying; Do everything for the youth, do everything for their future. Oh yes, the poorer countries might get their vacations in 2023 or 2024. What are we all doing. What kind of decisions are we going to make?
