Every evening when dusk falls in November, the starlings gather in the trees in our city district. Spreeuwen in de vlucht
This behavior is called flocking ore murmuration or black sun. They are mainly visitors to transit from Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.
First the birds gather in the tree straight ahead. Later they go to the tree on the right.
In a few days they will continue to the south.

What is striking is that the bird flies through the air in beautiful formations. Anyone who has ever seen this is wonderful.
What is also beautiful is that they all scream and keep silent at the same time.

In the beginning of this sound recording you hear them chirping softly. at that moment they are in formation, high in the air.
Suddenly the sound becomes louder, then they lane in the tree. You also hear them fly up several times simultaneously.
After 5 minutes, there are an estimated 2,000 birds in the tree.
After about 8 minutes small groups of about 100 birds start migrating to the tree where they will spend the night.
When it is dark and the starlings are in the sleeping tree, they no longer get out of their place and they chatter almost all night.
A nice video of this behavior: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NREmtGhIHew
People think that this formation is always good, but unfortunately that is not true. I have already found three dead birds by the trees.
Anyway I hope yo like the recording.
