Ambient recording. Mostly traffic and people on 30-60 meters.

On this wonderful Sunday afternoon electric tourist-boats with guide sail over de “Singelgracht” (water) trough the’Grote hekel’ into the down-town city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the south of the Netherlands.

The ‘Grote Hekel’ is that large gate in the medieval city-wall and was the floodgate to protect our city against high waters. In 1880 they build a steam pumping station here. There were three passages where the most westerly were demolished in the 19th century.

The traffic is on 60 meters driving over the ‘Zuidwal’ ‘Pettelaarseweg’en ‘Oude Dieze’.
I’m recording from the river embankment where sometimes walking, chatting and singing people pass. The are all in a good mood because of the wonderful weather this sunny autumn October day. Always nice to hear the children in the distance.

The carillon of the beautiful ‘st. Jan’ cathedral, down-town sounds nice. The bells for the Holy Mass ring for the last 19 minutes. A lot of effort to get the people into the church. But it give a nice ambience.

This is what tourist see when the sail trough the down-town city;
