Late summer, 10:00 A.M. on the first Wednesday of the month. Slowly walking past St. Benedict's Elementary between 2nd and 4th. Kids playing as the last tornado siren test of the season goes off at 00:47. as the siren begins, a big empty-sounding truck or school bus goes by. At one point a kid yells tornado. Kids scream. At 02:51 as the siren makes a particularly loud sweep a teacher blows a whistle. Probably means recess is over. My long fiberglass NFB white cane hits various things, the sidewalk, a chain-link fence, light posts, leaves, and the curb at the beginning when I walk on soft ground between 2nd and 3rd where there is no sidewalk. Other traffic along brick streets can be occasionally heard. My mic jostles a bit when I quickly cross 3rd. I end the file a bit before I cross 4th. Recorded with Zoom IQ7 with IPhone SE2020 & Voice Memos, then edited from larger MP4 with Goldwave on the PC. The phone is in a case with a strap, I hold the phone with the top jammed against my stomach and the strap tight around my neck to limit vibrations on the mic. It was a bit breezy so the foam wind screen is on the Zoom.
