I made this recording on my balcony in Hanover in summer 2001. You can hear a barrel organ in a narrow street between old 4-floor houses. A helicopter covers this sound for a moment. Tech: OKM II an AIWA AM-F80.

It's very rich-sounding for a street instrument! Interesting melody. Too bad the helicopter interrupted it...

That's not a hurdy-gurdy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurdy_gurdy.

It's a fairground organ of some kind, likely from a carousel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairground_organ

I remember seeing them in Hannover.
