An antique German clock, adorned by the face of Kaiser Wilhelm I carved in wood, dating it to sometime between 1871 and 1888.
In this recording the clock is being wound using a small winding key in the two winch axles for each of the weights. Additional sounds of inserting and removing the key are included.
Recorded using two Sennheiser MKH8040s in AB (as close to the mechanism as was possible). These mics are sensitive to ultrasonic frequencies and this was recorded at 192kHz so pitching (slowing) the recording down should retain brightness and clarity.
