This recording is the piece March VI from John Cages’ “A Dip in the Lake”. This was recorded from Roosevelt Road and 24th Ave. (Broadview) to W. Wabansia Ave and Claremont Ave. to Madison Ave. and Monroe Ave. (Brookfield) and then finally ending up at W. 76th St. and S. Wood St.. On this recording you can hear the sounds of cars, trains, and most importantly friends on an adventure. More specifically you can hear a PACE bus stopping (04:26) and cars quickly driving by (05:36). For this piece I wanted to consume the listener in a world of excitement and laughter. Throughout the piece you can hear my friend and I making the most out of our adventure of exploring Chicago despite the sadness in the world.
