screeching from nestlings of Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) in their nest - a hole 3 m above ground level in a living Pinus canariensis tree. At about 1 min one parent arrives and screechings become louder and more nervous. PCM M10 internal mics. Recorded at Llanos de la Pez, Gran Canaria

First heard the noise but didn't know the source. Then I saw the bird and said to myself... bingo!
