yes I too like the crack at the beginning!
it's not a noise from the recorder but the actual initial crack of the thunder - only a nanosecond before I almost had an heart attack :°)

I love the small crack at the beginning.

It makes sense to me that this is clipped. Nobody can expect for lightning to hit so near. Big sound is always bigger than we expect.
