Pacific Chorus Frogs Spring 2007

Binaural recording of Pacific Chorus frogs (Pseudacris regilla) in a backyard pond. The mics were right at the edge of the pond, at ground level, so the frogs are just a few inches from the mics. This is not a high-quality recording, primarily due to the AGC in my camcorder. But with headphones it is neat to hear the frogs calling to each other on either side of your head. I recorded for 45 minutes, as I have time I'll upload some more samples. In subsequent uploads you will be able to hear the frogs from other nearby ponds, plus other ambient evening sounds such as a distant train.

I used Edison, the Wave Editor that ships with www.flstudio.com in this pic you can see the spectral analysis of your sound, post filtering... http://www.digifishmusic.com/public/edison.jpg great editor.

Thanks digifish - I love your edits, especially the slowed down one. What tools did you use? I was guessing that somebody out there could do some interesting things with these. The frogs will be active for a few more weeks, any suggestions?

Great frog sounds! :) I checked the recording in a spectrum analyser and I see that there is no frog-sound below about 700 Hz, filtering that out really cleans up the sound...copy this link in your browser to hear - http://www.digifishmusic.com/public/davincamas_PCFrogs_FilteredBelow700Hz.mp3
