Salmon charter fishing boats heading out to sea just before dawn on Yaquina Bay in Newport, Oregon. Also lots of seagulls and ambient sounds of a small town fishing harbor in the very early morning. Recorded at about 6:00 AM from the fuel dock at the Embarcadero marina in Newport, where I worked in the summers circa 1981. The sounds echo off a sea-wall about 80 meters from the dock - see the geotag. I just found an old note I made when I recorded this back in 1981. For the record, I started recording at 6:05 AM on August 22. I'm not exactly sure of the year but 1981 would be a good guess. The sounds you hear are (in order of appearance): the "Kai-Aku", the "Taku", an unnamed dory, the "Codfather II", an unnamed sport boat, a 2x4 I threw into the water, a group of seagulls that discovered a package of herring floating in the water, the "Pastime II", and the "Allegra". I've notice a bad Frenquency around 8 kHz ... I don't know if that a insects or a sound buzz but with a little EQ it's perfect, thx
