This is another recording on the Ffestiniog railway in west Wales, this time onboard 1 of the carriages of the 18:30 to Blaenau-Ffestiniog.
Here the train is heard leaving the terminus at Porthmadog's harbour station. Firstly the guard blows on his whistle, and the engine whistles and gives off steam before the train departs and begins to pick up speed.

This would have been a true binaural recording, however I only had my head a little way out of the window, so the walls of the carriages confined the stereo image somewhat.
Recording date: 2011/08/02
Recording location: Harbour station, Porthmadog, Gwynedd, Wales.
Recording equipment: The sound professional's head mounted binaural microphones, into the olympus DM5 digital recorder. .
