American here. All our news report bulletins have sounded like this since Sept. 11, 2001. They... didn't use to. If you want to hear what they sounded like before The Crazy Era, YouTube search NBC, Henry Mancini, 1976, Decision 76 as the search terms. Difference: night and day. :(
