I love your description. perfect for masochists. I studied composition at a school that had a thing for "modern" classical music. i wrote a piece that sounded basically like this and my professor was like "ah yes... mmm. very interesting!" and on the basis of that piece, cleared me for honors composition, which at first seemed like a great opportunity, until it became clear that it really meant a whole year of professors wanting me to write more stuff just like this. instead of, you know, music that sounded good.
