This recording was made with a pair of Behringer "measurement microphones". I paid 35.00 USD each for them. Without a doubt, they sound as good as mics costing ten times that amount. (To me, anyway!) The recorder was a Marantz PMD660. The surf was so strong, it's almost just white noise. The mics were easily 30-40 meters away from the surf.
