Needle crashes across the record, like someone bumped into the vinyl deck or the dj is sloppy when taking the needle of the record. Has been used as a comic effect on tv-shows I edited: Dude is telling a story, music is playing casually, then the dude reveals something funny/shocking/embarrassing, voila the needle skips and music stops leaving an uncomfortable silence.
