LISTEN TO PERSON OPERATING A SHORTWAVE RADIO FROM ANTARTICA - Early in the morning, before dawn, along the eastern seaboard of the United States, a solitary amateur radio operator seated before Old School radio gear hails deep into the Pacific, enveloped by night at the time, for contact with another human being similarly motivated before his or her radio equipment. Suddenly, and quite unexpectedly, at the height of summer at the bottom of the world, just such an individual calls back through thousands of miles of radio static from Antartica.
