There I was late a night. I was turning my computer off after editing my site. I was silenced by night. But there was a storm a brewin' I opened my bedroom window and put my ear to the icy wind. I knew then this wasn't the usual mellow wind. I ran down the stair with my ZOOM H4N equipped, went through the garage into the black of night. I sent my gain levels to 60 and with only a foam wind shield I put it between to to boards of wood to act as a wind shield thus allowing my to capture the wind slicing through the trees.
With only adjusting the gain levels slightly in post nothing else been done, allow you to add you own effect on it.

This is great! I'll likely use this in some ambient tracks for a fallout inspired soundtrack I'm doing, so the flappy noises will actually suit me fine :D

Thank you to every one who is finding this sound useful. The only thing I wish I could have changed was the flapping sound of my polythene greenhouse.
At the time of recording I lived next to the woods so there was a lot of trees cutting the wind. I moved house 3 times since then.
Recently, I recorded storm Aileen in UK, September 2017, but there was a lot of wind noise clipping [I no longer have the wooden boards], and it would've annoying to edit out.
But I would say it was ten-fold the ferocity of this wind recording, but I was too far from the trees for the sound to be worth uploading. It seems too tinny, even after EQ.
Please share your project uses as It is very interesting and motivating for me to create more!
