Three extra-long wooden matches held over the edge of a metal sink using blu-tac, with a contact mic stuck on the blu-tac.
The matches are lit and burn until they burn out naturally. The crackling noises continue well after the matches burn out - possibly because of cooling. At around 1:45 you can also hear one of the match ends falling off in to the sink.
Equipment: Roland R-05, homemade fet preamp and cheap contact mic.
