Bird sounds

A bird I heard at about 4.30am in Jerusalem, Israel. I'm not sure what it is, it was very loud and sounds like a great tit but the tits I heard during the day sound different to British ones so I'm not certain.
Recorded with an Olympus WS-100 voice recorder.

What is really interesting is the spooky background noise.

Does anyone know what bird this is? I hear one every morning (at 5.00 am !!) and it is driving me crazy. I live in South East England. Any suggestions as to what it is?
