I recently recorded some IR's of a recording setup in my reverbery bedroom. To minimise the reverb, I did a sort of blanket fort around the microphone.

I thought id have more reverb, infact the room does have terrible reverb if you compare it with this https://freesound.org/people/Sadiquecat/sounds/815432/
Clapping/talking at head level rather than near the ground does provide more this echo reverb thing.
I think here it's minimised being close to the floor/carpet and having more furniture on either side than a typical head position.
Tascam FR-AV2 Rode NT5 with omni capsule.
Balloon pop at 20-30cm ish, mic at 170cm ish.
