Hardware testing

Subject : Comparing the Rode NT5 and Neumann KM184 side by side. mics were probably 4cm appart.
Testing in a reverbery room though... I do what I can :X
Date YMD : 2025 03 11
Location : Thuir Theater's reception area.
Hardware : Tascam FR-AV2, Neumann Km184 Rode NT5
Weather :
Processing : Trimmed and Normalized in Audacity.

Once more, interesting comparison...
In my opinion, it confirms that KM184 is sharper (of course), especially with distant sounds, like the kids in the background, or when you take your things in your bag.
However, for near field recording,it’s more a mater of taste. For the kazoo, one might prefer NT5. For voice, KM184 might be a bit better.
Nevertheless, KM184 is way more sensitive to plosives, and I’m afraid it would be very sensitive to wind too, which would be a serious problem outdoor, even with a good wend protection...
