Sounds from the weekly animal market held in Awat village in the oasis region of Kashgar, Xinjiang Province, China. Sheep, cattle and donkeys may be heard along with the local Uighur people bargaining and selling their wares.
The Kashgar region, located roughly between the Pamir mountains and the Taklimakan desert on the ancient Silk-Road, is the ancestral home of the Uighur people who continue to practice their rich traditional lifestyle.
