I've no doubt it hasn't gone unnoticed that my interest is in natural soundscapes, and I leave 'horror' sounds and all that for other people to perpetrate! 
Well, here for a laugh is something that will quite likely scare the sh*t out of some people, particularly if they heard it out there alone in the dark as I did - and, no, I haven't taken to making 'horror' or 'spooky' sounds! All I did, originally in June 2014, was choose to make long recordings of the birds' dawn chorus in the Cot Valley, a little south-east of Cape Cornwall, Cornwall, UK, having an absolutely wonderful and uplifting overnight vigil out there waiting for 3.30 a.m., BST, when I would start the dawn chorus recordings.
So, just imagine, then, you are waiting to make those recordings, and it's getting darker and darker, and eventually you are taking a little lie-down on the slightly grassy space that you've made your base, high up above the mouth of the Cot Valley, joyfully gazing up at a sky that looks solid with stars - and then, out of the sea sound, shall we say, you notice way down below around the mouth of the valley a little something that is, shall we say, a little bit unexpected, to put it genteelly...
This offering here is actually an extract from a 1hr 40min recording that I made on 24 June 2015 (starting at about 00.14 BST). Sorry about the abrupt ending - somehow I omitted to fade it out as I always mean to with my natural soundscape recordings; only just noticed upon listening to this piece from here.
Of course some people will know what this unexpected 'something' is, but, no I'm not telling, though of course you can cheat! If you want to know what the hell it is, I encourage you to do a little homework to find out for yourself - much more interesting that way! . I should think that in some circumstances this could be a nice little prank to play on somebody — see the first comment below!

I didn’t read the description completely and thought it was solely a disclaimer about your preferences for natural sounds. My wife likes oceanscapes for sleep and she heard it and freaked out. I know there was an audio spike in there but I thought it was just waves crashing. Check this one out! XD
