This sound is the result of analysis and re-synthesis of an acoustic bass note. The original recording was decomposed in sound grains by an atomic decomposition algorythm (matching-pursuit). The synthesis, made from the parameters obtained by the atomic decomposition process, was performed by the SOM-G language interpreter. SOM-G is a language dedicated to granular synthesis that makes it easy to synthesize sound from a sequence of Gabor atoms parametrized one by one. More information about SOM-G can be found in this paper: http://gsd.ime.usp.br/~lku/site-sbcm/2001/papers/rPaulo_Goncalves.pdf).
