Berimbau is the portuguese name for the angolan instrument hungu. A berimbau is composed by:

- An arc made with flexible wood and tensed by a steel wire.

- A coin or a round shaped rock used to change the pitch and/or timbre of the note.

- A stick of wood or bamboo

- A gourd as a ressonator, attached to the arc by a cotton string.

- A light shaker named caxixi is often played using the right hand, the same that holds the stick, as the player strikes the wire.
