Night falls at Wetlands / Pony Pasture Park, a remnant of the Powhite (pronounced POW-hite) Swamp in Richmond, Virginia. Recorded at the end of a humid day in late May 2012 using a Zoom H4n mounted on a photo tripod at a wildlife observation blind just a few feet from the edge of a pond. Several species of frogs and toads take turns chorusing; a few birds can also be heard in the brush.
Recording was processed in SoundForge 6 using a low shelving EQ to remove some of the background traffic, rail, and jet noise.

Thanks, klank! I can't recall whether that one was a CSX coal hauler running along the northern (opposite) bank of the James River or a regular freight crossing the old rail bridge over the James and running behind our local shopping center. Our neighborhood is rich in railroad sounds. :-}
