It's probably mono because he used one mic.

I sincerely doubt a mobile phone could handle the SPL of a machine gun at 10'. If you read the desc, it says he used an Octiva MK012.

A nice enough sample of an lmg which were lucky to have available now to us and loads of it too - fair play to you.
I assume its mono because you recorded it on your mobile phone?
