Glen Nevis lies at the feet of the magnificent Ben Nevis, the highest peak in Britain. It spreads along the beautiful river Nevis with its lower and upper falls. Many tourists captivated by the snowy peaks rush up the slopes of the mountain as we descend into this peaceful oasis.

In the Glen Nevis records, Glen Faramach bring to you the unique sounds of spring in the valley. The journey begins with the recordings of streams flowing into the Nevis River as we travel up the currents. We arrive at the lower falls and listen to frothing foam and the crashing waters of the roaring waterfall. Following the currents we move down the riverside and the meditative birdsong and calls of swifts nesting on the river banks reach our ears.

The atmosphere of a lazy, spring afternoon in a remote place surrounded by nature accompanied by the dreamy sound of a passing plane and the distant sound of an occasional car crossing the cattle grid gently fades into the recording of a Highland cow munching on fresh green grass by the road. The bleating of sheep grazing in the distant pasture reach our ears slowly fading as calm evening approaches.

We settle on the Glen Nevis campsite after dark. A few birds chatter and an owl hoot reaches us from the nearby woods. The clouds cover the mountain peaks and soon it rains. The sound of water droplets falling on the tent fills the space and we can faintly hear birdsong in the background. We wake up to their wonderful dawn chorus, occasionally hearing a pheasant call.
