Pack: Engine heater electrical outlet timer

Recordings from different directions around a post mounted electrical outlet for car engine block pre-heaters. The sound is from an electromechanical time switch that turn on the engine heater in the morning and afternoon. The outlet and timer was built in into a housing of extruded aluminum.

Sweden can get cold in the winter and these days most cars here have engine and cabin heaters. Pre-heating the engine block makes the engine start easier and reduces start-up exhaust emissions. Heating up the cabin will defrost the windows sooner and will thaw the window frost or at least make it easier to scrape off.
