Using a combination of 13/4, 13/8, 11/8, and 4/4 (I know that using 13/8 and 13/4 is sort of cheating, but technically, I had groupings of 6.5/4 so, it was actually structured quite differently than my pieces in 13/4).
The hope was something cloudy, dreamy, sort of quixotically comfortable, something that feels like the aimless bliss of the first moments of wakefulness before you realize the world exists.
The subdivisions within each part of each meter are more or less fixed. I used tuplets and nested tuplets to achieve some stranger ratios. Parts were built in 4:3.25 (or to use more conventional notation that would be 16:13), 5:3, and there were more but I forgot to document the exact ratios.
For all the meters, save for 4/4 there is a single note assigned to a rhythmic pattern. In the beginning of the piece all of the meters have some variation of note, but then by the minute and half mark everything settles down into a lulling drone of the same note values pushing and pulling in the tide of poly-everything.
Hope you enjoy.
