I got the mic about a year ago, so not new to me.
I believe AT835st is one of the best field-recording mics that an amateur like me can afford.
My preamp is Shure FP24. The combination of it and MR-1 is matchless so far. (Feb, 2007.) I also connect it to R-09, which is nice, too.

MixPre pre-amp?

Nice.

I wish you would stop exposing me to (expensive) new toys, I just got a MixPre now it looks like I have to get a AT835st :)

I used AT835st. Each diaphragm (mid and side) works well. But this time, I didn't notice that I had set it 90 degree clockwise. I mean, the side one, fo8, was facing the ground and the sky. Nice to catch the crow's, though.

nice, both the strong (train) and soft (crow,ring) sounds are clear
