A stereo recording of an old style telephone. This is a genuine Bell System Ringer Model 687A (8/70) made by Western Electric. It's a tan box about 15x13x6 cm. It was usually placed in a warehouse or far from the main phone so people would know they had a call. Recorded with a Sony ECM-99 Stereo Microphone from about 2 feet away to a SonyMD recorder. There may be a little room noise with amplification.

I worked at an obsolete, though fully functioning, factory for a year where we had a ringer exactly like this. Hearing your recording reminds me of scampering around the scaffolding to get to the phone. Nice post,
